Florida Museums - The Jacksonville Museum
of Modern Art – JMOMA has five galleries and
is the home of the best modern and contemporary art.
It is located in the downtown Jacksonville area and
is complete with a learning center and an ArtExplorium.
For another fantastic museum visit The Cummer Museum
of Art and Garden is the largest museum in Northeast
Florida. More than 150,000 people visit the museum
on an annual basis. Jacksonville Zoological
Gardens has the only walking safari in the
Northeast Florida area. There are over 1,000 rare
and exotic animals and the zoo is a learning experience
complete with interactive exhibits and an adventure
for the whole family.
Jacksonville Museum of Science and History
MOSH is the place to go to learn of astronomy,
history, physical science and natural science. There
are exciting exhibits at this fantastic museum. It
is a great place to take the entire family. At the
St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum you can climb
the 165-tower and when you finally reach the top you
will have some very beautiful views of Jacksonville.
There are shipwreck artefacts and information about
St. Augustine’s past in the museum that you
can look at and interactive exhibits also. At the
Timucuan Preserve/Kinsley Plantation is a 56,000 acre
park and it has the Fort Carol National Memorial,
hiking, picnicking and a lot more.
Be sure to visit as many of the Jacksonville
Museums as you can. They are all excellent
and worth spending some hours within their walls for
a great cultural experience.
